As you already know the parking assist should be off except in reverse. The back up light circuit also sends a signal to the rear object sensor control module. If the back up lights are working correctly chances are the control module is getting the correct signal and should be off except in reverse. From what you have told me I would suspect that the rear object sensor control module has failed. Some circuit checks at the control module would be necessary to confirm this. Can you turn the rear parking aid "off" using the override switch on the interior lamp and multifunction switch assembly? Turning the system off may eliminate the beeping noise until you can get the system properly diagnosed and repaired.
