rear pads on 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

When changing the rear brake pads, on teh outer pad, does the open end of teh spring face teh front or the rear of teh vehicle

My information system is not clear. Perhaps try looking on Autozone's website once you register they have workshop manuals for many popular vehicles on line for free. Can you compare the brakes from one side to the other or are both sides taken apart?
