Question: rear liftgate sensor

 Rookie

"Rear liftgate open" is displaying on the dash computer. Rear lift Gate and glass are definetly shut when this happens. Biggest problem is while the car is shut off liftgate sensor is causing car alarm to activate. Part is on national back order(whatever that means). So I have to assume others are having the same problems.

    if a part is backordered, it means it is not available at this time. you will have to wait until they get the part in stock (days? weeks? months?). until that time, you could bypass the switch just to shut off the alarm,
    then replace it whenever the part comes in.
