Rear Corner Panels on Sides of Tailgate May Crack/Break on Mercedes-Benz ML350

The rear corner panels on either side of the tailgate (black plastic) can crack or break. They should be cut off and the adhesive removed before new panels are glued on.

Noticed the problem when we bought the car (orig from CA). It has just gotten worse and is now an embarrassment.
The corner trim was worn and faded. Removed them and had them sanded and repainted. I used all weather adhesive to secure them.
One of the panels fell off while driving. Also, both panels have been peeling since the first year.
The left rear light lens cracked from the inside! I took it to the dealer and the response was, there has been no recall therefore they won't replace for no charge. Obviously, this is a defect.
All of the bumper covers are cheap and crack very easily.
The rear corner panels around tailgate are faded and peeling.
rear panels had to be reinstalled at 40,000 miles i still have a kinda shuttering problem sometimes at a red light or when i stop
