Rear Brake Adjustment on 1997 Dodge Ram 2500

Is there a brake proportioning valve on a '97 Dodge Ram Diesel 2500 4x2? Also, other than manually adjusting rear shoes, what is the proper procedure for self-adjusting brakes. Have always manually adjusted rear brakes but never seems to be sufficient braking from the rear.

To adjust the rear brakes on any American truck with drum brakes, First make sure its clear behind you then back up and hit the brakes sharply then go forward and hit the brakes and repeat this until the back of your truck goes down when braking in reverse this procedure makes the rear auto adjusters adjust the brake shoes for you
