2006 Lincoln LS Q&A

2006 Lincoln LS Question: rear bearings & the Knuckle

Lincoln shop says the rear wheel noise is coming from bearings on each side but also say I need to replace Knuckle at same time?? At $1,450 parts only. Could I get by with bearings only for $200 parts??? Knuckle is expensice??? -
Answer 1
They may know from past experience that these cars wear steering knuckles if the bearing wears out, or they could just be covering their but against a "come back". If you trust them ask them to remove the wheel bearing and examine the hub without automatically replacing it. -

Are the wheel bearings a part that can be replaced by DIY or do you have to take the car to a repair shop? Does anyone know how to do it?
