Question: Ran out of gas now wont start

the truck was low on gas and after making a pit stop (where I turned off the truck) it started up by quickly shut off. Now it turns over but wont start. I have put 5 gals of gas in it and after checking the fuse and fuel pump reset switch, I just replaced the fuel relay. It sound "more" like it wants to catch, but still doesn't start. Someone suggested spraying starting fluid in the valve cover, where is that? and what else might this be? I CAN her the fuel pump engage when I turn the ignition so I don't think its that.

    Dear Tony, Please don't spray starting fluid in the valve cover. This will not help and starting fluid is VERY risky because it is ether. I don't ever use it. If you can hear the pump running while you crank the engine, then the fuel pump may be ok. What is the gas gauge reading? If it is reading say a 1/4 or more then you may have sucked in some debris from the bottom of the fuel tank in to the fuel system ( not uncommon if you run very low on fuel). You may have to take your vehicle to a shop to have the fuel pressure and fuel system inspected and the computer scanned for trouble codes. It could be many things, sorry to say.
