Certain All Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles equipped with a ZF 8HP45 transmission are being recalled. In the affected vehicles, the transmission output shaft can break unexpectedly. This could result in loss of power to the drive wheels, increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicle could also unexpectedly roll away with the transmission shifter in the park position. Dealers will replace the transmission in affected vehicles to correct this concern.
The left and right tie rod assemblies are part of the front steering linkage, Certain trucks are being recalled because the left tie rod can break unexpectedly. This can result in loss of steering control. Dealers will inspect the steering linkage and install a new left tie rod assembly as necessary to correct this concern. This recall supersedes a previous recall, some vehicles repaired under the first recall may require an additional repair.
The occupant restraint control module monitors vehicle occupant and crash data to determine which airbags to deploy when necessary. A software error may result in the airbags deploying from the opposite the side of impact (a left side impact would deploy the right side airbags and vice versa). This would leave the occupant at the point of impact with no protection, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will reprogram the occupant restraint control module to correct this concern.
