Radiator fans on 2002 Audi A6 Quattro

The radiator fans run all of the time at full speed even for a short while after the ignition is turned off. Is there some thermostat some where that needs replace?

could be the coolant temperature sensor

my 99 Audi a6 Quattro Avant overheats and when I turn on heat blower temperature gauge go back close to normal.
On hot days in traffic with the AC on the engine overheats. The electric radiator fan rarely comes on. Will cool down when going highway speeds.
