It's hard to say, independent transmission shops do not have rules enforced upon them from a higher power. When I say rules, I am refering to both quality control and customer relations. Most every transmission specialist have the same amount of knowledge and abilities but an independent store can get away with "patchwork" and call it rebuilt.
