Overheating and/or Coolant Loss Due to Leaking Quick-Connect Fitting on GMC 1500 Pickup

The quick-connect fittings for the heater hoses tend to leak engine coolant. This problem commonly occurs because the metal housing has become brittle, which can break and cause leaks.

The quick connect fitting at the rear of the intake manifold broke off where it screws into the manifold. Engine overheated before I knew what was happening. Resulted in a complete overhaul to repair the problem.Very poor design for a quick connect fitting.
