I put 6 quarts in she drive but I have to gun it in drive but reverse work fine
At start up it revs high like gas pedal is down. Turned off, tried again, same result. Turned off again, checked carb cables if stuck. Tried to start again and now just turns over. Any ideas would be helpful thanks
Timing belt gone vam won't move
it is a 1989 g20 van. the alternator will drop output and run the battery down. the battery is new and filled and when i test the alternator it puts out 14 v. I think i have a short but can't find it.
Van drove fine. Parked it for an hour. Acted like it was out of gas, put gas in (thought maybe gauge had quit), didn't help. Idles erratic, backfires with black smoke when driving. Using way more fuel than before. Runs too rough to drive. Checked for basic vac leaks.
Upon driving it backfires and sometimes stalls. Already changed plugs, spark plug wires, rotary cap, distributor cap, coil pack. Also, add fuel system cleaned and new air cleaner.
There's only fuel going into the seventh and eighth cylinders.
Engine start fine but weak power to gas n move van, no compression .
I bought the van used. I used to get 9 miles to a gallon - and, now I only get three miles a gallon. Impossible to go on trips as it cost so much. What can I have a mechanic do to improve the gas mileage. I am 69 years old, retired, and live on a pension. Thank you
checked fuses bulbs changed brake light switch on gas pedal all other lights work but no brake lights any suggestions helpful.
engine cut off at high speed. it made a rumble sound then died. i wonder if it has fusable links?
This van had been sitting for a couple of months and when driven @ 15 miles it started a steady clacking sound whenever I accelerated a little and when I went to climb a hill it lost power and I barely made it over a half mile hill at about 10 mph. when on level ground I could get to 50 fairly easy but the clacking sound remained whenever I used the accelerator and quit when released. I parked it and haven't driven it since.
Driving interstate, major growling noise like rear end going. Got to the house no reverse. Could this possibly be an electrical issue. I had recently pulled transmission out from the motor just enough to replace freeze plug. When I pull it into reverse I get nothing, no weird noises, no surges, nothing. Oh yea van is used for ice cream business.
I have to flutter gas to keep her running, & it gets even worse going up a hill. Thanks
recently replaced the brake light switch and after i put everything back, went to drive it and it wouldn't come out of parking position stuck there, any suggestions on how to solve the problem
When this first happened the Service light came on and before I could drive home the van died. Would not start because of flooding from carb. Towed home, replaced oxygen sensor and ran fine. Drove another 11 miles and it did it again. What other sensors would cause this?
I use this van to sell icecream. It has about 230000 miles. It ran hot and I did not stop.I had it towed after it stopped running. The following day,I discovered that there was no water in the radiator.I added some water and I started it.I drove it and after about a mile,it stopped responding when you press the gas pedal.I only use it on weekends.
air problem on week
Filler tube is loose and leaking a small amount of oil.
My Chevy g20 has engine failure. Engine is almost out but it's not fitting through dog house, new engine is in crate ready to be installed next to engine. transmission is leaking and may need replacement. Needs all new wiring in engine area, Needs entire front end dissembled to replace engine. My mechanic thinks it's too much work and not worth fixing. Already paid him 750$, it's not even out yet. What should I do? is it worth fixing or should I just sell it for scrap? Paid 2000$ to owner who claimed it was fine to drive. Paid another 2000$ for engine, can probably get most back on that...If I put another 1500-2000 into it I can get everything but the trans replaced...
The wipers would work sometimes but when they wouldn't I turned them on high, then they would work. Lately I had to force the arms for them to work. Now nothing! I understand most of the problems with the wipers are the Pulse boards getting corroded?
instructions say that it is necessary to install a set screw in the sector gear before disassembling it from the regulator is this really necessary
