No check engine lights ,speed always increases at 45mph, similar to engaging cruise control.

I just bought a 1997 318I BMW convertable. I don't know the first thing about vehicle. I bought the car for my girl friend and two kids but one day a round ring came loose on the drive shaft and and a mechanic cut it off for $10 to help us out so it could be driven. He said it was made of rubber on the inside of the steel , could this be why the car shakes when driving and what kind of damage could it do. Cause we took the children to pismo beach and I want to see if I can't figure this out and see if we can afford to get OT replaced or fixed. I'm a man who only makes minimum wage

The car SAT for like 2 years without running I started it for the first time and it idles easy to high

What it needs to turn over,we just kept turning it clockwise carefully until I feels like it's catching again,this didn't happen often but happened enough times over 2yrs,other day when I turned it off- well I thought I was- the key turn freely the opposite direction & when I pulled key out which was easy - before I new it I realised my car was still running ,I put key back in but I still couldn't turn it off, am guessing when I pulled key out & ignition was turning think it turned around a bit extra & think it unsinked itself sumwere in the mecanaism, someone had to reverse hot wire it so we could turn car off with screw driver, we now start it with screw driver & it will only start when key is still in ignition, any advice on hoe to fix this eg: getting ignition back into sink, ps: the ignition had never turned the opposite way freely before, spoke to bow dealer & he said the ignition part I will need has to come from Germany, wondering if anyone else out there has had the same problem? & also if anyone has any suggestions? I want to fix it before the area were we put screw driver -wreaks the plastic slots that the screw driver fits into, cause if the craps out then I dont know how I would ever get it started, other than hat & 1 very minor problem my car is a good car, also wondering if the cost in fixing ignition problem would end up costing more than 1995 BMW 318i sell for,any help would be great,thankyou

When i remove backlight swith there was green fluid in there is this shorting out my reverse and brake lights?

I have been looking for the yellow starter relay for over a week. I have checked under the dash and hood nowhere to be found. Car won't start but the lights come on. Key goes all the way through but no crank.

I have ordered and replaced the window regulator clips on my 1994 BMW 318i
The window would not roll up or down without falling off track. The clips were old and worn down. So this fixed part of my problem.
I now see that the plastic piece connecting the third arm portion of the regulator is also worn causing it to pop off when trying to roll the window as it reaches all the way up, and it falls off track again. The weight of the window pulls at the arm and it pops out! Where can I find the plastic rolling piece or bushing without replacing the whole window regulator? Thanks!

When starting my car the key would sometimes just spin all the way around then one day it got stuck on while running . I was told I needed the ignition lock cylinder. Don't have $$to buy a new one . My friend has a 98 .would that fit and work and if so where could I get a key made

Care makes high pitch noise when running. Oil cap very hard to remove do to high vacuum. When cap removed noice stops but car idles rough

Im looking at 2 cars I considering to buy. The 1995 BMW 318i going for $675 seems to be in fair but needs a catalytic converter. The 1997 BMW 318i going for $490 seems to be in good condition but need a head gasket. What would be the better deal?

It's a 5 speed transmission, standard.

My car starts, runs, and shifts fine. But when I come to a complete stop while in gear the engine sputters and eventually shuts off. The problem first occurred when I was low on coolant so I thought it was a problem with the radiator, but I replaced the radiator and it now longer gets low on coolant; I also checked the transmission fluid level and there was no problems there.

just bought the car $325 bucks,guy said hed had the fuel pump changed,the timing belt,(they have chains)and still wouldnt run,said it acted like it was running out of gas.and he lost the key.sat for 19 months,is why it was so cheap,found the key in the dirt by the car when i was loading it,lol,if i hold down throtle it trys to start,but back fires threw breather blowing off large hose going to air cleaner.but i had primed it with gas threw a vacum line,and changed the fuel pump relay,i cant here the pump running at all,if it were a chev i could push in the valve core on the fuel injector rack,but cant see one one this,the keys rusty could it screw with sercurity system if any

The car will start if I push the clutch all the way to the floor, but will not start if I have my foot off of the clutch. Once it's on, the car seems to be in neutral and cannot move to any gears due to the fact that the clutch has nothing
