Question: putters when i apply to much gas pedal.

my car seems to be losing power over the past week and now i noticed while on the highway yesterday coming back from work it was puttering at around 40-50mph when i applied to much gas pedal.Its never done that before so what could this possibly be?

    There could be quite few things, like a restricted fuel filter, failing catalytic converter and many other problems. I'd suggest to get it diagnosed by a repair shop.
