Cracked exhaust manifold.

Reported by vieja for the Chevrolet Trailblazer

Car went from being quiet to all of a sudden sounding like a lawn mower when it was started. Had it evaluated and it was a cracked exhaust manifold. The crack was right in the middle of the manifold. Called around for prices of repairing it and they were as high as $700. Just thought I would do a search on it and found a utube video on how to repair it yourself and was reading the comments below it. One person said the same thing happened...

CTS-V Supercharger problem, Rattling

Reported by Mercedes Repair for the Cadillac CTS-V

I purchased a 2012 Red CTS-V off the lot of a Houston area Cadillac dealer. Shortly after purchasing the car, I heard a rattle when accelerating on to the highway. I immediately set up an appointment to the dealer to have it looked at. When speaking to the service advisor, he asked if I put "regular" gas in the tank (off to a REAL bad start). I stated I knew about the corvette pushrod technology and the eaton supercharger screwed on the engine...

2004 Frontier XE sluggish acceleration

Reported by IFBS for the Nissan Frontier

The vehicle accelerates real slow and has vibration in the engine. Ran a OBD2 scanner and got the scan trouble codes. There were two codes detected, a P0300 and a P0328. The P0300 was a multiple misfire problem and the other was the knock sensor code. These parts are both killers on a person's wallet. Now I see why the dealer repairs are so expensive. To replace the knock sensor on a V6 VG33 engine you gotta move the whole intake to include th...

Knocking/juddering from Steering

Reported by Metapieman for the Mercedes-Benz E320

Steering control arms are a fairly expensive replacement to have done - here in AZ all the rubber components perish before their expected time, causing erosion and damage that can only be fixed by full replacement. Next time you take your car in for routine maintenance, have them check over the front end to make sure that you're still in good shape

Transmission Failure After replacing less than 4 tires on the 4x4 model

Reported by TransTechNC and 1 other for the Nissan Pathfinder

The Owners Manual for the 4x4 Model Nissan Pathfinders eludes to the likeliness that the transmission will fail when using mismatched/mixed tire types, brands or sizes..... This is due to the type of hubs used for this vehicles "on the fly 4x4" option.... which keeps the hubs engaged, but not full-lock position, even when not in 4x4 mode!
Just had a 95 Pathfinder SE 4x4 with 102,967 miles and a freshly busted up planetary gear due to the pre...

Idler and tensioner pully.

Reported by jaybird0703 and 1 other for the Chevrolet Aveo

I had new cam belt and water pump replaced as recommended by GM/Chevy. They did not replace tensioner pully. It flew apart in less than 100 miles. That blew all the valves. Had repaired. Total cost over $1600.0. Nothing but problems since. Another $500.00. My advice, get rid of Chevy Aveo and never buy another GM product!!!

Automatic Transmission Shutter Code P0770

Reported by mrbankee and 1 other for the Lexus LS400

The problem was that when coming to a stop, I would get the sensation of letting a manual transmission car stop without engaging the clutch; i.e. a shuttering sensation. The diagnosis was that the shift solenoid "E" encased in the transmission was faulty (PO770). The problem is that this part has been replaced twice within a 12 month period leading me to believe there is something really wrong with the diagnosis, treatment and possibly the t...

Loud Clicking / Chatter Noise From Front Axle

Reported by Up North Volvo for the Volvo XC90

I had a loud clicking or chattering noise that was coming from my left front wheel area on my Volvo. This was somewhat maddening, as it would come and go. When it got so pronounced, I took it to my dealer's mechanic; he heard it, but couldn't pinpoint the exact source. He did rule out wheel bearing failure, and due to its' extreme left location, ruled out any transmission or angle drive issues (which had themselves been recently serviced). Fin...

Premature transmission wear

Reported by taximom19 for the Saturn Outlook

I would like to see if anyone else has had to have their transmission replaced. My Saturn has 47K miles, I have never towed anything and I went to put it into reverse and it wouldn't go into gear. After having it towed to mechanic, I was told the transmission needed to be replaced (besides reverse, 4th and 5th gear were also gone). I have never had a transmission go out...and I do all of the maintenance required.

Erratic turn signal relay operation

Reported by dx01 for the Volkswagen Jetta

An accumulation of dust inside the body of the turn signal switch can cause a partially closed circuit, which results in the turn signal relay intermittently clicking at a high rate. Spraying a small amount of residue-free electronic contact cleaner (such as Electrosolve) inside the turn signal switch can resolve this problem. The turn signal relay is not the root cause of this problem, but may be damaged by it.
