The crankshaft angle sensor or the camshaft position sensor can fail and cause loss of engine power, an engine that cuts out, and other drivability problems. This will cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate. Certain models have been involved in a recall to replace the camshaft and crankshaft sensors. If the Check Engine Light illuminates, indicating a problem with the front oxygen sensor, but the sensor tests okay, reprogramming the engine's control computer should fix the problem. Then, the Check Engine Light will no longer falsely illuminate and the acceleration, particularly from a stopped position, will be smoother.
