The engine may stall or develop a rough idle with the Check Engine Light illuminated and fault code 15 stored in the ECU. Our technicians tell us that the engine electrical grounds are critical, all 5 should be inspected and cleaned as necessary. An additional ground lead kit is also available which can be installed to help correct this condition.
The drivers power seat may not adjust properly or develop a noise issue when adjusting. This is commonly caused by a damaged drive cable which will require replacement.
Corrosion may develop on the fuel filler door requiring replacement of the damaged door.
Vehicles with convertible tops may develop a fluttering type noise with the windows partially opened. This is commonly caused by the fabric top becoming loose at one of the metal bow supports. Our technicians tell us that the headliner must be lowered to access the retaining strips to tighten them.
The front, lower ball joint may fail unexpectedly resulting in loss of vehicle control. Failed ball joints will require replacement. Our technicians recommend a complete inspection of related suspension components if this situation occurs. This should be done in order to determine if there is any other damage as a result of the ball joint failure.

It is not uncommon for wheels on these vehicles to be very easily bent or otherwise damaged, often to the point of requiring replacement. This can happen even with no apparent damage to the tire.

A driveline vibration may be noted on smooth roads. If the occurs all driveline mounts should be inspected and replaced as necessary. Upper and lower radiator mounts should also be inspected in the same manner. If all mounts are good and the problem continues updated engine and transmission mounting brackets are available which may help this condition.
On 2.4L 4 cylinder engines a whining noise may be noted when the engine is cold and the rpm is in the 1800-2000 range. Our technicians tell us that most commonly this type of noise is coming from the engine oil pump. The repair is to replace the front case assembly and both the drive and driven oil pump gears.
A squeal or squeak type noise may be heard from the rear brakes on application. Our technicians tell us there is an updated rear brake pad shim kit which can help reduce this type of noise.
