GMC Canyon Problems
RepairPal has identified the most common problems with the GMC Canyon based on complaints from actual vehicle owners. We'll tell you what the problem is and what it'll take to fix it.
The CD player in the radio may fail. Our technicians tell us that the radio will need to be removed and sent out to a radio repair shop to correct this condition.
The fuel level sensor in the fuel tank may fail causing erratic fuel gauge operation. Our technicians tell us that on high mileage vehicles you may wish to replace the complete fuel pump module assembly if this condition occurs.
The GMC Canyon SLE and Canyon SLT uses a throttle position sensor (TPS) which is known to fail and cause:
- Check engine light illumination
- Reduced Power message
- OBD trouble code P2135
This issue is related to the throttle position sensor, and can be caused by faulty wiring to the TPS, bad connection at the TPS, or a failed TPS.
To correct this issue, the wiring harness, connector, and throttle position sensor must be inspected, tested, and/or replaced. The most common cause is a faulty TPS.
Illumination of the Check Engine Light can be caused by a loose or worn gas cap.
