Faulty pressure transducers (sensors) or the evaporator temperature sensor may cause the AC to stop functioning. The body control module (BCM) may lock up and create similar symptoms. Disconnect the battery for five seconds before resetting the BCM.

Some vehicles may develop a musty odor coming from the HVAC system, Dodge has issued a cleaner/disinfectant and a coating for the evaporator designed to inhibit bacterial growth.

A worn AC belt idler pulley may cause the AC belt to roll over in the pulleys or come off completely.

The AC drive belt tensioner bracket can crack and cause the belt to make noise or jump off the pulleys. The AC system may stop working as well. A cracked bracket could damage the cylinder head; it should be replaced.

There was a recall on the brake master cylinder in order to fix a problem that causes the brakes to drag when the brake pedal is not pressed. If the brakes drag, they will fade, causing overheating and increased stopping distance. The master cylinder is replaced under the recall.

An loose alternator drive belt may cause a growling noise in the engine area at low speeds (usually when accelerating from a stop). This is often mistaken for catalytic converter failure.

Timing cover oil and coolant leaks are common, the oil and coolant don't normally mix. Our technicians recommend to replace the timing chain and cam sprocket if the timing cover is removed to reseal - or for any other reason.

The automatic transmission can develop problems like harsh shifting, shuddering between shifts, and a buzzing while in Reverse. Repairs for many of these problems are outlined in service bulletins and require removal and disassembly of the transmission.

If the ignition key does not turn and/or cannot be removed, a new lock cylinder may be needed. A worn key can also cause similar problems.

When a no start condition is caused by a faulty camshaft or crankshaft sensor, related fault codes stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) should not be trusted. Our technicians tell us that under certain conditions a fault code can be stored for the "good" sensor. Care should be taken to properly diagnose this condition.

Failure to use the correct automatic transmission fluid and follow the maintenance schedule can result in shifting problems.

Poor output from the heater and/or engine overheating can be caused by air left in the cooling system after the cooling system has been serviced. Our technicians tell us the proper coolant fill procedure should be used to prevent this problem from occurring.

Door weatherstrips mounted on the body tend to shrink with age, leaving gaps that can create wind noise or allow water to leak into the car. Our technicians suggest the door weatherstrips should be replaced to correct these issues.

A defective vehicle speed sensor can cause problems with the cruise control and speedometer operation, as well as erratic shifting. The connectors on the sensors are also susceptible to corrosion, which will create similar symptoms. Any of these problems can cause Check Engine Light illumination.

Before refilling the coolant, make sure the air bleed valve is open. Follow the proper fill procedure—it will prevent problems with overheating, low heat output from the heater, and possible coolant bottle failure.
