2004 Mazda RX-8 Question: problems with reverse.

 Rookie

I just found out that I need new spark plugs, wires, coils. plus a new coolant with sensor. Don't have 1400.00 to fix right now. But today my car is parked in the garage and wont go into reverse, when I try it jerks forward. Am I in big trouble, just bought it in July :( Kathi

    I would call Mazda and see if there is any extension to the transmission warranty, other wise have a good Transmission shop look at your car.
    Sorry to hear about the bad news.

    Do you have a Check Engine Light that triggered the need for those plugs, wires and coils? Why did 'they' say that you need all the coils? Are they damaged in some way? Plugs and wires, ok , but all new coils, that is expensive. What is their reasoning?

    Hello there i bought a 2004 when it came out. This car was trouble from day 1 the motor has been replaced 3 times. this week my car reached 100,00 miles so the warranty expired well before it expired the car started having the same symptoms as when the motor were going bad. Well the tow truck came and picked up the car, long story short the problem were the coils wires spark plugs cost me close to 980.00 dollars it only has 4 of each they are about 165.00 each the coils but i realized i don,t need the dealer to fix my car i can do it myself and save me a some dollars if you have a brother he can do it . The motor and the Transmission were both extended to 100,000 miles due to so much trouble these cars have
