problems on 2003 Ford Focus

the car feels like it is draging when you drive it, there was a popping noise and you have to hit the gas hard to back up.

I think you have a rear brake problem like something's come apart back there. Tow the car to a Ford specialist for diagnosis and an estimate. Here's a directory link for you:
