$500 repair to fix a sound my car was making but the sound my car was making didn't go away. Went back to the shop and explained the situation but wasn't given another inspection courtesy of the false diagnosis. Left the shop with the problem still there and was treated without respect or courtesy, like I was making something up. Do not go to this place.

I had two cars coming in and they were on top of getting them both done on the same day and the time I needed to drop off and pick up!

I set up an appointment for a simple oil change. Dropped the car off and ran some errands and by the time I was done the car was ready to pickup. Will be back again!

Great service; however, I went in for an AC check up and the shop ended up finding about a dozen other possible problems with my car and paid $1000 to fix them. I was not able to get the AC fixed due to the other expenses. Not a shop for those on a budget.

I started coming to this shop because of an employee (Frank Folger) who is a good friend of me & my family. He is wonderful at what he does. He is trustworthy, fair & is a man of his word. Wherever he is, that's where I will go to get work done on my vehicles.

Brought in my car because the check engine was on. They promised to have an answer for me in an hour without an appointment and they did. I left the car, they fixed the problem in a timely manner, and they called to tell me the car was done in the time they said it would be finished. Gave a 1 year 12,000 mile warranty on the repair. I'll be back again these guys seem honest and didn't appear to take advantage of me. No other repairs found.

by - Verified Customer February 15, 2017

This shop charged a ridiculous amount of $40.00 for a 2-minute inspection of lights and tires. I don't know how this inspection could have been done efficiently when the inspector never left the driver seat. I could go on and on but what for? That ought to be enough. This service should have been done for free!

There's a quote for a whole wheel hub after i had the rotors changed. It was not explained to me. Great price and fast service but spending $400 bucks then getting my car back with a $600 quote to replace the part without explaination kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

The service was great but there was things I was told over phone that were left from the estimate. I had to remind and ask about the things that I did not see on the estimate. The repairs were fine, they did everything right for an average price. However, after already putting $600 dollars into the repairs, my battery was having some problems a few days later. They said it would be thirty bucks to install new terminals and that's if I brought the part in. Was treated very odd by a woman there. I can't remember her name. But she wasn't friendly and made the whole process of fixing my car just a little more vexing. You can find a better place to fix your vehicle.

I had learned that Volvos are difficult to work on because of the configuration of the engine. I looked for a shop that worked on Volvos and found Prestige Auto. The shop was professional and clean. The person that wrote the service order was knowledgeable and if she didn't know the answer she went and asked a technician. While the cost was higher than I expected, a little research showed that the cost was in line with Volvo repairs in the area. I highly recommend this company.

Older, high-mileage car, 2000, showed dash's service engine light.
Ran it up to Prestige because I'd used them before for same car. Quick diagnosis & fix while I waited. Part was pricey (O2 sensor) but that's the price; diagnosis & labor was quite reasonable. Good reception when I arrived, good feeling the work had been done carefully & completely when I left. As the Terminator says, "I'll be back". Highly recommended.

The mechanic at Prestige found dangerously rusty parts under a CRV that I was thinking of buying on behalf of my daughter. The exterior and upholstry were pristine and it ran smoothly, so I saved myself a major future headache by walking away from this "deal" offered at a nearby dealership by a friendly young man who had looked me in the eye and said he knew of no problems with the vehicle and that his "word was his bond."

Prestige claimed that they did an inspection of my AC system and then told me that they could not work on the system because there were additives in it. The next shop I took it too tested the system and found no trace of additives and fixed the issue within the day. It seems that Prestige charged me 100 dollars for work that they didn't do.

by - Verified Customer July 09, 2014

These guys were the unfortunate souls to crack the oil plug threads as they loosened it. All the treading came along with the plug. It could have gone south real fast, but they skillfully re-tapped the hole and replaced the plug with a larger bore and now it's back to working like a champ. This in conjunction with a great price on a synthetic oil change... who could ask for more?

Prestige mechanics claimed my AC compressor and hoses were leaking and needed replacing, estmated at around $1600. Took car elsewhere; they found no sign of leaks and said thethe system was just overcharged by 50%. Under $100 including diagnostics later, the AC works beautifully. Huh.

I like how they breakdown the cost of everything on the receipt. I felt like they charged too much for the labor. The cost of the labor was over twice the amount for the part.

They prefer to use higher quality parts which doesn't increase the price. They replaced one of my factory original parts. Initially they assumed that it was a low quality replacement by another repair shop, which was incorrect.

If you buy pre-mixed coolant you do not need to add water. If you buy straight coolant than you should mix it with water to make 1:1 solution.
Depending on the make and model, fill to the proper level in the coolant reservoir. Then pressure check, bleed system and re-check to make sure it's at the proper operating level. For a 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo the total volume of 50/50 coolant and water will be more than 11qts.

This requires electrical diagnostics. It can be a bit tricky to trace the cause of your problem. It is important to choose a master diagnostic technician who is familiar with your vehicle.

Normally you would need your coolant flushed every 1-2 years. I'm not sure on the details why it was recommended to you to flush it twice last year. If you are loosing coolant and refilling frequently, it's important to make sure you have a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water for proper cooling of your engine.
There may be many reasons why your coolant has become contaminated and requires frequent flushing. That is best discussed with your technician who regularly services your car. Or seek out a local experienced technician who can best advise you.

As we speak, we have a 1999 Buick Regal here for a coolant flush. On this vehicle you have to make sure and use a 50/50 mixture of Dex-Cool and water. It takes around 11Qts total coolant mixture. It would be a good idea to check and make sure you have coolant in your reservoir and radiator. Wait until the car is cool to inspect. We do pressure test, power flush and fill's here at Prestige Auto Works.

Could be a couple things. If you still have the problem when using the lock button on the door, then it's probably not a bad battery in the remote. Could be a power door lock actuator. It would be best to have an experienced mechanic diagnose the problem. They will be able to carefully remove your door paneling and test the functions of the internal parts and pinpoint your problem.

You might have a couple problems. One is some sort of electrical issue that needs to be diagnosed for your lights blinking. Because your car is shutting off by itself, you may have a bad module. One way to tell the difference between a bad battery and a bad starter: If all your lights and stereo work well, the battery may still be fine. Batteries usually last between 3-6 years, so if yours is older it may need to be replaced. Just a click, instead of a weak turn-over, is typical of a bad starter. There are a couple different kinds of clicks, but based on your description it sounds more like a bad starter.

When you find metal shavings (debris) in your transmission oil pan, that is a sure sign that something is wrong internally. You may have broken parts or badly worn parts. A transmission fluid change will not fix your problem. Since you mentioned fluid all over the place....Your transmission (in any condition) will not run properly or at all if the fluid is too low. For maximum performance it is important to change automatic transmission fluid every two years or 24,000 miles (for most vehicles). The fluid level should be checked with the engine running and the transmission in park.

ac was working good but now is not blowing...
If you use to have cold ac, but now you don't, the simplest and most common problem is a small leak in the system and loss of freon. Recharging the ac system will rejuvenate your ac until the freon gas leaks out again. When the technician performs this service make sure they have dye in the system to locate a small leak. Other testing may be necessary to determine if the compressor and other ac components are working properly.
Make sure to note if they system makes any unusual noises when trying to operate. A visual inspection will only enable the technician to disclose any major ac system defect, such as a broken or missing hose or belt.

There are a few different things it could be, and it's hard to tell without taking a look at it. Could be the blower motor if there is not air blowing. Also if the system has lost the freon it will not blow cold. With A/C service we do a vacuum check to detect major leaks. The freon is accompanied with a leak detecting dye as well. For more information or service, feel free to call or email us.
our 91 forn e 350 just dies in the heat
It would be really helpful to know if the vehicle over heated when it died. Does it not re-start after it dies? Or it could be the fuel pump got really hot and went out. The heat could have finished off your ignition module as well. The best thing to do is bring it in for diagnostics, there is no way to guess what is wrong without seeing the vehicle.
This should not have anything to do with the catalytic converter. A variety of other this could be the cause of your hard start. Is there a check engine light on? Timing, EGR and fuel related problems are among the possible cause categories. Hard start diagnostics would be necessary to determine the exact cause. In this case we would credit your diagnostics fee towards your repair.

Does it still crank, but not start? Can you hear the fuel pump turn on for a couple seconds when you try and start the vehicle? Maybe the heat is affecting older parts. More information is needed, and an experienced technician should diagnose your vehicle. There are a lot of variables here.

Your description leads the the idea that your blower motor does need to be replaced. When doing a/c repairs you will also need a/c recharge service. There may be an additional recharge fee (separate from installing parts)plus a charge for the freon (about two and a half pounds for your Town car)

I believe the xj8 is a V8, not a 6 cyl. Many of these larger luxury vehicles take large quantities of engine oil than most cars. The xj8 takes about 7qts each oil change service. You could expect to pay around $40 for a regular oil change with filter each 4,000 miles. Other regular maintenance such as air filter, transmission fluid and coolant service may only be needed every couple years.

Many vehicles, like yours, have a timing chain. Timing chains are not changed at regular intervals and should last the life of the engine. Timing belts (depending on the vehicle) should be changed between 60,000-90,000 miles to ensure they won't fail and cause engine damage.
what is the cause of this error code
P1300 is ignitor circuit malfunction. Code is set when there is no IGF signal to ECM for 6 consecutive IGT signals during engine operation. Possible causes are IGF or IGT open or short circuit from ignitor to ECM, or ignitor or ECM.
Sounds like you need further diagnostics to determine which one is the exact cause of your code.

If you are concerned about the recent repair on your vehicle you should communicate directly with the shop that installed your parts. You should have a warranty on your repair. If you truck is low on freon, then there will not be enough freon going to the evaporator. One side will have more oil and the other side has more freon. This explains your experience with one side blowing cold and one side blowing warm. Simple you need to have the system recharged with freon. We include die with the recharge so we can inspect for minor leaks.

At anytime, if you car heats up, it is important to pull off the road to a safe location immediately. Overheating your engine can cause damage very quickly. Maybe the SMOG shop told you the OBDII (On Board Diagnostics 2) is not communicating properly. If there are not check engine light codes, and your light is off, then you simply need to drive it around more for the computer system to finish all of it's self checks. Make sure not to disconnect the battery. Before your next SMOG inspection you'll want to have them first check and make sure your monitors are ready for the SMOG inspection.

It is possible that your alternator has lost power by the belt and your charging light has come on. Your car may run until the battery runs out of charge. Maybe the same belt that powers the alternator also is for your power steering pump. Start by checking your belts.

You could simply have a cracked air hose. There are multiple air lines that run to the engine. Check all hoses and inspect mas air flow boot and pipe coming from your intake air filter. If you can not find the leak, you may need to take it to a shop that can smoke the system to find even small leaks.

If it is your faulty oxygen sensor for bank 1, sensor 1. This would be on the cylinder #1 side of engine, which should be the passenger/right side for this car. Sensor one is the front sensor before the catalytic converter.
I would make sure that the Mustang is running smoothly before you assume your oxygen sensor is bad. You could also have an exhaust leak, fuel injection problem, faulty MAF sensor or an air leak in the system. You may experience a bit of rough running with some of these other faults.

You need to have your check engine light codes read to see what systems have a fault. If you are also loosing coolant, you could be at serious risk of damaging your engine. Once the technician knows what system has a fault, they can determine the exact cause and recommend a repair.

On this model you may need to remove the sound proofing panel by the drivers side, also it gets a little complicated removing the accelerator pedal and moving the carpet out of the way to replace the cabin air filter.

A common problem with BMW's is that the control arm bushings wear out. You may also notice that when you brake it will rock forward and back instead of coming to a smooth still stop. A wheel bearing may also be the culprit. Without a visual inspection no one can say for sure. Come on in for an inspection.

P0440 is a general EVAP system code. There are many posibilities. I would recommend bringing it in for diagnostics to find out precisely where the fault is. We can smoke the system to check for leaks as well as other test to see if your solenoids are working properly.

If you need to replace a manifold catalytic converter you may be stuck purchasing it from the dealer.
If it is just a regular catalytic converter, there is typically aftermarket ones available for a fraction of the cost. The muffler shop replacing the catalytic converter will need to know some specifics about your vehicle to make sure there is a legal aftermarket catalytic converter meeting the CA requirements. It will matter if your car was originally a federally or California built car, you can find out by reading your emission or VIN label.

Make sure you are using the correct weight oil, should be 5w-30. If you have not been doing oil changes on time the oil can also get sticky. It's recommended to change your oil about every 3,000 miles and to check your oil level each time you fill your fuel tank.

After a proper diagnostics we can determin if the compression in your engine is still good or not. You may simply have seal leaks and a head job could fix the problem. Or if the compression is low you may need a new engine. When you are driving on the highway, the parts in your engine move faster and the oil tends not to leak out into combustion chamber and burning in exhaust. You are at risk to perminately damaging your catalytic converter at this point.

The computer is indicating you hav a misfire, that is why it is not running smooth. If you have already confirm the connections are good, then I would recommend bringing it in for professional diagnostics.
car is siezing up when I drive
What do you mean by "seizing up"? The fans will normally come on once the car has run a while and warmed up. If they do not come on at all there can be a problem with the fan motor, an electrical connection or maybe just a fuse. Typically if the fans do not come on at all, you'll experience overheating, especially while driving slow or at a stop - since there will be little air movement. You're at risk for overheating your engine - which can result in permanent damage.

You may have a problem with ignition coil resistance. In any case you should take it to a qualified professional for diagnostic testing and repair. If you start guessing what to repair, it could end up very costly.

First off, on your 2006 Colorado, why are you suggesting that it has a bad cylinder?
Do you have a P0302 cylinder #2 missfire code? Simply you could need spark plugs and/or a coil for cylinder #2. Have you had a professional diagnose it?

If the sidewalls of the tires are cracking, maybe air is leaking. Also if there is rim damage, the air could leak out where the tire meets the rim. Maybe you are only experiencing the loss while driving or sitting in a certain position. It would be good to know if just one tire are all four are loosing air.

Another common problem with Chevy's is their clusters will go out. You fuel pump may be fine and it could just be a cluster problem. If you have troubles starting your vehicle or it shuts off on it's own, there is a sure sign you pump has given up. For the last year+ my 2000 Chevy Tahoe fuel guage on the dash cluster flickers and isn't completely accurate anymore. The sending unit on the fuel pump may be going bad, but everything is still running fine. If you're worried, take it to your mechanic and have him start by test the fuel pressure. Make sure to replace the fuel filter on time and try not to run low on fuel - it's harder on the pump.

You're probably looking at about $1200-1400 in parts, labor and taxes to repair your a/c system with a new compressor with clutch and drier. If you have the incorrect amount of oil in the system it will not work either. It's best to take it to an A/C specialist who has the proper equipment to diagnose and repair your vehicle. With a special machine they can check for leaks, vacuum the system and recharge it properly.

You have a code from the evaporative emission system. First you need to start with diagnostics. If you have a leak in the system the technician will perform a smoke test to locate the leak. Once the diagnostics is complete you will receive an estimate on the repair.

What could be the causes for the problem?
Did you check to see if your alternator is able to charge your battery? Maybe you have a problem with your starter. There's a chance that your fuel is not being delivered to your engine as well. I recommend diagnostic before you continue to guess on repairs.

It sounds like you have a little transmission fluid getting into the coolant system via the transmission oil cooler. Maybe some seals are weak. Without actually inspecting the vehicle we can not properly advice, but would assume that you may only need to replace the oil cooler and/or the cooler lines and then perform a complete cooling system flush, once it's all cleaned up.

Yes they do have EGR valves. Do you need a repair? We are a Smog test and repair facility. We have the GM factory scan tool and specialize in GM repair and use genuine ACDelco parts.
