To replace the power switch, you must get a part number. You can simply just replace the switch. It is not necessary to replace the whole panel.

HAD TO REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SWITCH TWICE ON A 1999 ML320 TOO INVOLVED FOR ME TO DO MYSELF SO I HAD A REPAIR SHOP (NOT M-B DEALER) FIX. SECOND TIME WAS ABLE TO GET THE SWITCH PANEL FROM A WRECK BUT BOTH TIMES IT COST ME $300 FOR PARTS AND LABOR

I believe M_K is wrong. On mine, I had to replace the entire assembly, which is all 4 switches on the console. Two back ones worked fine.
