Question: power steering rack leak

I asked for routine 100,000 mile check. Was told that Power steering rack was leaking. I've never noticed any leak and never had to add fluid. The estimate to correct was $1230.00 (GM Goodwrench shop). Does this sound reasonable? if it a "leak" does it require replacement, or can it be "fixed?"

    You can always ask for them to show you the leak, it is probably a small leak.

    rack leaks require replacement of the unit. in the aftermarket, it runs around 600-700 for everything. shop around and you will find a more reasonable pricing.
