2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

 

Question: Power steering not working.

 Rookie

This car has electric power steering. It quit, but when it sits for awhile it works for about two or three blocks then quits again. Fuses seem to be o. k. Is there an easy fix or do I have to take to dealer. Let me know the details if its possible that I can fix it.

    The 2.0L and 2.2L engine options I show for your car both show a belt driven power steering pump and traditional steering rack, if so the power pump may be failing. Any independent repair shop should also be able to diagnose/repair what is wrong.

  • jump start problems
