Question: power steering is hard when turning left...

 Rookie

only when I turn the steering wheel to the left do I hear a "whine" and the steering wheel moves back and forth and it's harder to turn..any suggestions or answers?

  Sounds like internal binding in the steering gear. Verify there is no restriction in the hoses and that the pump is functioning properly. But stiffness in one direction and not the other seems to be a good sign that the gear internally is an issue.
