Check for debris in the tracks, and check the switch.

I have the same problem on my 98 S90, I found the problem. All the power seat functions are driven by 3-electric motors and flex shafts that drive the functions. What I found was the the shaft that drives to fore-aft motion (there are 2 each drives one side of seat fore-aft) one had twisted the end off. There are a couple of ways to fix this, remove seat and shorten outer casing (depending on where the shaft broke, typically its the end) clean up the end and re-insert this is only a short term fix as the end will twist off again. Other option is to find a used one in a Salvage Yard. I found mine at Chris's Volvos etc... in Maumelle, AR.

There is another option that is to purchase the Seat Mechanism from Dealer for $2,700....

    Hope this helps....

FYI the S90 has the same Seats as the Volvo 960
