The Convertible Top May Open Unexpectedly While Driving
Body, Interior & Misc., April 30, 2010
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
9 Boxster S convertibles are being recalled because the soft top may not latch in place correctly when closed.
What Should You Do?
Porsche will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning April 30, 2010. If you are experiencing problems with the convertible top latching in place, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
On 2011 Boxsters with a convertible top, the locking hook at the front of the soft top should securely engage the top of the windshield frame when the soft top is closed. 9 Spyder models are being recalling because the soft top may not latch correctly to the windshield frame. As a result the soft top could open unexpectedly while driving at higher speeds, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace both the locking hook and lock catch with redesigned parts to correct this concern.
