I bought my Tahoe brand new and in the past 5 years approx. I have started to hear a popping noise when I turn or when I ride over uneven pavement. I have taken my truck to the dealer multiple times with no diagnosis. Then I took my truck to a Hibdon Tires and they replaced the driver's side ball/joint, but it still pops. And recently I took my truck to a Tires Plus and where they replaced my brakes, and since they had the wheels apart I asked them about the popping and they said they couldn't find it. Any ideas?

Is the noise possibly coming from the lower portion of the steering column? The steering column intermediate shaft is a common source of popping noise when turning and driving over rough road surfaces. The shaft usually has to be replaced with an "updated" part to correct the condition.
The muffler heat shield may become loose on the muffler causing a rattle or popping noise. Our technicians tell us there is a kit available from GM to correct this problem.
