Poor idle quality due to oil feed tubes falling into crankcase on Mercedes-Benz E420

Problem Description and Possible Solution

Oil feed tubes break and fall into the crankcase (engine) and the tappet becomes noisy (ticking), resulting in degraded idle quality. Our technicians recommend replacing all of the tubes at the same time, broken or not.

Light knock off and on when engine idling. Had all tubes replaced and it has worked fine since. I have 135,000 on it now. Cost $650
