Question: Poor acceleration

My 1994 Mercedes Benz E420 does not accelerate like it used to. Problem started after Engine sludge was cleaned out. I got it checked out and I was told it probably has to do with camshaft sensor not sending electrical signal to air intake. That sounds strange. Does this make sense?
Please help.

    When you say that the sludge was cleaned out, what do you mean?

    As for the poor acceleration, start with a scan of the codes in the Engine Computer. It could be 1 of several sensors that is malfunctioning, a weak fuel pump or plugged fuel filter, a restricted CAT Converter, the list goes on and on.
    So start with a scan of the Engine Computer and go from there.
