Child Restraint Anchor Points May be Improperly Placed
On certain passenger vehicles the child restraint anchor points may not be in the proper locations. Owners will be mailed an owners manual supplement that will help with proper securing of child restraints.
GM will notify customers of affected vehicles beginning March 20, 2005. If you have not been notified and feel your car falls under this recall you should contact your local dealer. It is helpful to have your VIN Vehicle Identification # ready when doing so.
Some vehicles may not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #225 "Child Restraint Anchor System" The child restraint anchor points not being located where they should be. This may cause difficulty for the owner in installation of child restraint systems. The dealer will be sending an owners manual supplement to those with affected vehicles. The GM recall # is 05005

CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 225, 'CHILD RESTRAINT ANCHORAGE SYSTEMS.' THE CHILD RESTRAINT LOWER ANCHORS IN THE CENTER REAR SEATING POSITION ARE LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 90MM BEHIND THE CORRESPONDING Z-POINT OF THE CHILD RESTRAINT FIXTURE (CRF). THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATES THAT ANCHORS ARE AT THE OUTBOARD SEATING POSITIONS ONLY.
WITHOUT ADDITIONAL AND CORRECTED OWNER'S MANUAL INFORMATION, AN OWNER MAY ENCOUNTER DIFFICULTY IN INSTALLING CHILD RESTRAINTS WITH RIGID ATTACHMENTS IN THE CENTER POSITION.
