Has the Check Engine Light come on? Kia have a Service Bulletin issued November 2007, #38. They had faulty Throttle Position Switches. Could be many things, bad ignition coil pack, bad spark plugs, erroneous sensor inputs to the engine management computer. I am afraid there isn't much more I could offer without driving the car and experiencing it first hand. Kia as a car manufacturer offer a lot of technical information for free on line at www.kiatechinfo.com

Maybe you have sorted this problem now, would be interested to find out. Mine did the same, it turned out to be the fuel filter needed changing, got one for £15 direct from kia, genuine part. Hope you got it sorted.

Thanks for your response, I took the car to a Kia dealership for 60,000 mile maintenance.Replaced spark plugs, timing belt, and fuel filters. The problem was resolved for now.
