I have had my new 2010 Chevy Impala for less than 2 months and I've noticed a pinging sound coming from the car after I've driven it and turned the ignition off. It pings for about 2 or 3 minutes and stops. What causes this and is it a fire hazard?

2010 Chevrolet Impala Question: Pinging Sounds

The sound you hear is the heat shield and exhaust cooling down, a lot of cars do this, nothing to worry about but do report it to you dealer every time you get the car worked on and make sure it is documented on the repair order in case the noise gets worse over time.

Thank you for the information...I do feel a lot better. I'll follow you suggestion about documenting.
