1998 Mercury Sable Question: pinging sound coming from the pulley mounted to water pump.

Ryedoc, 3.0L V6 DOHC, Princeton, MN, May 16, 2013, 03:02

Is this a tensioner pulley or just part of the water pump and can I just replace pulley or do I need a pump? Can a bad surpentine belt cause the noise. The more RPMS. the louder and faster it gets. How long will pump last if it is bearings going out in pump?
