The EGR tube may plug causing the EGR system to not function at all. As a result, engine pinging may be noted and the vehicle can fail mandated emissions testing.

failed emissions due supposedly to egr, but after replaced did not fix, ck engine lt still on, 3-4 yrs prior had same problem, sidle air control valve, this sensor, that sensor, nothing worked after $400 so I said "Forget it". Now i'm in Atlanta and have to pass emission. Still looking for the answer. Next I'm trying EGR Vacuum sensor. There seems to be no "real" diagnosis, just try this and try that just like last time. Nobody knows truly what to do.

Rookiedid not pass emissions test bad egr function.so replaced egr .cleaned egr filter but how can i test it to see if thats the problem.
