Paul's Japanese Auto Repair & The Brake Stop was established in 1996 in Rancho Santa Margarita. We pride ourselves on treating the customer not as a number, or a dollar sign; but as an individual and a family member. Family owned and operated, you will never get the run around that the dealership will give you. We service not only Japanese, but American cars as well. Providing all scheduled maintenance services (30k, 60k, 90/105k), brakes, clutches, diagnostic repairs, etc; basically all repairs/services that your vehicle may need. We function as an active member of the community, and make the effort to know our customers and their families. Our goal is to provide the most friendly and honest shop in South Oc. The service manager is ASE Certified and an Eagle Scout, so his honesty is natural. A superb alternative to the high prices and lackluster service of the dealership, with a higher standard of quality and trust.

Paul's Japanese Auto Repair & The Brake Stop
I had brought my Honda Odyssey to the dealer for a recall job, and they said that I needed new brakes. I then brought the car to Paul's and they said that I had at least 25% left to go on the brakes! It's comforting to know that they will always be honest. Another time I brought the car to Paul's for its 60,000 mile check up, and they were great as usual. John, the owner is such a personable guy. I accidentally left my cell phone in the car. I called to make sure it was there, and they said that they would charge it for me. Sure enough it was fully charged and ready for me when I picked up the car. I thought that was going above and beyond!

Paul's is without the most honest repair place around. I took my vehicle there because the local Toyota dealer (two blocks from Paul's) wanted me to pay them $759 for a brake job and another $759 to replace a valve cover that was leaking badly. Aaron and the guys found that the brakes and drums had never been removed so Toyota couldn't even see the cylindar to know it was bad. Yet Toyota insisted that I had to have the complete brake job. As for the valve gasket, a small ooze from one part of the valve, nothing more. They did find that my transmission pan was loose. They tightened that all up and all for under $80. They cannot be beat! Their mechanics are top notch and John and Aaron always put the customer first. They could have easily said I need the same parts, do the job for $700 a piece and I would have jumped on it. Instead, they were honest and gave up an easy $1300. You will not find a more honest shop!

Paul's Japanese Auto Repair & The Brake Stop
I have a Mazda Millenia S, a car that is notoriously difficult to diagnose and fix. Paul's just diagnosed and fixed a problem for me which the Mazda dealership couldn't handle. In the process, everything was explained to me every step of the way, they were completely honest, and all the work and then some was done well within the cost estimate they gave me. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will never take my car anywhere else for service.
