Hey... I am not sure if this is an appropriate question for this site but I figured I would give it a shot. I am looking at getting a new used car. I am considering a Saturn Astra partly because it seems to be a good basic car...not too fancy, decent safety features, decent gas mileage. My question are: Are parts for the Saturn Astra difficult to get? Are parts for the Astra expensive? I know Astras were only produced for 1 year in the states and Saturn has been phased out. There are some good deals on Astras out there but if the repairs costs are high due to lack of parts...probably not a good long term deal. Thanks for the help.

there are many choices for really good basic cars that are still in production. the corolla and civic are great cars. at some point, parts supply will become an issue with all saturn products. you may want to see if your library has the April 2011 issue of consumer reports magazine, which is their annual car issue. read pages 80 to 85 on used cars.
