Mike at Parklawn has worked on all my family's cars at the same location for over 20 years. Includes Toyota, Mazda, Honda and Mercedes. He consistently provides excellent diagnosis and repair at reasonable prices, and he explains problems and repairs openly, honestly and with the customer's interests in mind. He goes the extra mile to provide great service. Ignore the gruff exterior, he's a really nice person who cares about people,likes to be of help, and loves to talk cars.
I took my 99 Grand Prix to Mike for some general maintenance, and to have him look at a problem that had completely stumped two other shops (it was a problem that was keeping my car from passing the MD emissions inspection). Mike accurately diagnosed the emissions problem within an hour.
The repair turned out to be more involved that expected, but Mike kept me informed throughout the repair, making my options, likely outcomes, and costs very clear (he even did price comparisons on an expensive part, and saved me around $100). The end result was like getting a new car.
Mike also let me know what I should be planning for in terms of ongoing maintenance, along with very reasonable cost estimates. No hard sales pitch, either, just competent and professional care.
Mike's attention to detail, thoroughness, and exceptional customer service make him tops in my book...I recommend him without reservation.
Originally I took my Ford Escape Hybrid to Mike at Parklawn Diagnostic for a problem with my breaks. I had taken the car to the dealer twice for the same problem. When the break failure happened the 3rd time a friend recommended I let Mike have a look at it. I dropped the car off to him on my way to work and by lunch time he had the problem fixed. Since then I have had my regular oil changes done and have been very impressed with his customer service. He makes me feel a customer and not just a number. So I was more than happy to take my vehicle to him for my 60,000 mile servicing. Again, he explained everything he did and made a recommendation regarding my tires. Thanks Mike for insuring I had a safe trip to NC.
