On a short family vacation our car broke down, luckily we have auto club roadside service. To make things even worse it was Easter weekend. We had a great experience with Pacific Motors. We were treated excellently. The part the car needed came in as promised and we were on our way home only had to spend an extra day at a hotel. We appreciate how we were treated at this trying time.

The only knock I have on the shop and it may be the entire area, is labor costs. I think the labor costs are just a tad high.

Kyle at PMS Monterey was kind, courteous, polite and I feel secure with the work promised and the work that was completed. I also feel Kyle was very helpful with my infinity to reset service reminders that he himself did. I was well pleased with the work.
Very satisfied. Although the prices are on the high end for this area - they are not unreasonable. Especially with the 3 yr/36k mile warranty that no other shop offers in this area that I know of. Because of this the parts they use must be of high quality. I was ok with paying the costs for my repair and didn't leave feeling like I was taken advantage of at all. It's nice to have piece of mind that my car was fixed right the first time and I wont have to wonder if there will be issues later on.

One of the primary reasons I was loyal to my previous auto mechanic for so many years is that I felt they NEVER recommended service unless it was necessary. However, their prices became prohibitively high, so I changed to Pacific Motor Service. I'm not yet convinced that Pacific Motor Service only recommends service when necessary. Time will tell.
Took 3 days longer than it should have to fix my car. Came in 15 minutes before closing to pick up my car, nothing was explained to me and the keys were left in the ignition with nobody watching the car while it sat out front where people were walking by.
The staff is always so friendly and real.

The only issue I had was the final invoice. Jim had indicated that he would waive the labor for attempting to clean the original EGR valve if I would then agree to order a new one. It looks as if I was billed for cleaning the bad EGR valve ($134.20) I wonder if Jim remembered this conversation. Besides that, I felt like everything was professional.

I am new to the area. I just bought a used vehicle with high miles. I started having problems and thought I needed a head gasket replaced and was also considering a remanufactured engine. Your shop was the first one that came up on google. Jim was honest with me and helped me make the right decisions. I only needed to replace the radiator. I ended up getting the transmission, power steering and oil changed so I wouldn't need anything more done for awhile. I was happy with the customer service and I will definitely continue to be a customer while I'm here in Monterey.

Nice people, but beware of personnel trying to 'upsell'. A simple oil change can become so much more because that is only the hook to get you in.
Kyle indicated that previously 'regular oil' was used when servicing the oil & filter. He recommended the 'synthetic' oil that is used for new vehicles, and of course, costs more than the original estimate/coupon noted.
NOT dissatisfied; just wondering why this was not mentioned the other times when changing oil & filter service.

I had 2 repairs done recently. On the first one the wrong part was ordered and I had to wait another day until the car was ready. This was an inconvenience, other than that the repair was satisfactory .

The vehicle was repaired for part of the reasons I brought it to you. The other reason I brought it to you was and still is that it will not pass smog because the EGR status keeps reading 'NOT READY'

I had a coupon for a 36 point inspection but I don't believe they kept the promise. The tire pressure was not matched when I checked as soon as I got home so I have reason to believe they didn't rotate the tires. Very expensive. I have never paid $19.66 for an oil filter. The OE filter costs $7.12. Not going back.

I came in concerned about a shimmy sensation in the steering wheel which seemed to start after the shop rotated the tires a year ago. I then had the alignment done, but still didn't go away. My recent visit, the mechanic said I needed new rotors, that was the problem. Well, the problem is still exactly the same as before. Planning to go elsewhere and have the tires rotated. Since that seemed to start the problem, I will see if that fixes it. Not sure if I needed new rotors or not. Maybe I did, but the diagnosis that the shimmy would go away, and had gone away, was not correct.

Shortly after the repair job, there was a problem w/some of the fasteners used. As soon as I told him about it, Jim ordered new parts, called me as soon as they arrived and had me in to have the new fasteners placed right away. I couldn't have been more satisfied.

Had a six month oil change and checkup. Everything seemed fine except the included tire rotation was not done. When I detected this and brought it to their attention, the mechanic's excuse was that he could not find the locking lug nut which I had placed in the cup holder for his convenience. Anyway, he should have asked. They apologized and rectified the issue.
Service is good. However, they will always find some expensive repairs at least on alternate visits.

took my e350 Mercedes in for a checkup since I had just purchased it for my wife and wanted to make sure it was in good shape, it ran great but had a few miles on it, also check engine light came on. Checked out car and was assured it was in good condition, tires in good condition , transmission valve needed replacement, nothing criticaL. FEW WEEKS LATER WIFE HAS A LOW TIRE, TAKES TO TIRE SHOP WHERE SHE IS TOLD BOTH TIRES ON PASSENGER SIDE NEED TO BE REPLACED. I IMMEDIATELY FEEL TIRE SHOP TRYING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A WOMEN WHO ISN'T FAMILIAR WITH TIRES, ESPECIALLY SINCE I JUST PAID $145.00 TO HAVE YOUR SHOP CHECK IT OUT AND WAS ASSURED TIRES WERE IN GREAT SHAPE. NOT SO, TIRES WERE AS THEY STATED, WIRE SHOWING ON ONE AND THE OTHER BALD IN THE MIDDLE, STOPPED BY YOUR SHOP AND EXPLAINED SITUATION TO A WOMAN AT THE COUNTER, WHO ASSURED ME I WOULD GET A CALL, STILL WAITING FOR THAT CALL!

Reliable, always competent service. They commonly find some other issues with your car beyond the original problem and some of these can be quite expensive.
