The engine is working harder when hauling or towing therefore the temp will rise a bit. Does the temp hold steady at 230? Did the truck run cooler in the past? 230 does not seem to high to me under heavy load. If this is someting new then perhaps the radiator has become slightly plugged.

i wpould check the air flow in front of your radiator and ac condensor be sure it is clean and free of debris also check the operation of your clutch fan and shroud if everthing there checks ok the have your radiator checked for blockage.
