The jeep intermittently stalls. Typically it will not immediately restart. I am getting Diagnostic Codes 33 and 42 (open and shorted condition AC clutch and auto shutdown) How do I track down the problem and repair it?

It is possible that the wiring is shorted in which case it would blow a fuse protecting the air conditioning clutch. Does the air conditioning work on your Jeep? You should hear the compressor cycle on and off as the engine is running or hear the compressor cycle each time the ac switch is pressed on the dash. Disconnect the electrical connector at the air conditioning compressor if a single wire connector jump power from the battery to the connector, you should hear the compressor clutch click as you touch power to this connector, if not the compressor clutch is bad and needs to be replaced. Connect a voltmeter (black wire to ground, red voltmeter wire to the compressor wire connector.) ensure the wires will not become tangled in the fanbelts, start the engine , have a friend turn on and off the air conditioning you should have 12 volts to the compressor wire each time the switch is pressed or there is an open in the wiring from the switch to the compressor, bad switch or blown fuse. If it is a wiring problem not compressor clutch I can pass on the wiring information.
