Question: OK my tribute is over heating

Has new radiator, thermostat, cap, hoses. And still will run hot. if I stop at red light it will run hot. Start going , it will go down. When doesn't go down I'll pull over let sit for about 5 mins and start up and back to cool. Was running hot the other day and it blowed the upper radiator hose... really getting on my nerves!!!!! Help

    Sounds as if your radiator cooling fan may not be working. The fan motor that is mounted on radiator shroud should come on when car is not moving to cool radiator.

    No the fans come on and u can even hear them when they are blowing extra strong. Kinda thinking I got a bad thermostat But put 2 new ones. But tks so much for the help

    Next step is to check for symtom of head gasket failure. With the engine cooled down and radiator cap removed and radiator filled to top of radiator crank engine over with ignition disabled (reomove coil wire or unplug distribuator). Look for air bubbles coming up at fill neck of radiator. Best to have someone assist you by cranking engine while you watch for air bubbles at radiator. Note! do not look straight down at fill neck. Stand off at first in case it spews out a lot of pressure.

    Thank everyone so much for the help. Now can anyone recommend someone around Troy that can do transmission work. If the price is right will be willing to travel a lil. Oh and after all that auto zone was giving me the wrong thermostat .
