Oil Pump Replacement on 2000 Chevrolet Venture

The oil pressure is building up high enough to blow the oil filter gasket - Would changing the oil pump fix this?

Probably as most oil pumps have a pressure release spring that diverts excess oil back to the pan

An engine oil leak may develop from the rear of the engine. This is commonly caused by a failed oil pump drive o-ring seal. The leaking o-ring should be replaced to correct this concern.

Need info on how to pull the oil pan down and replace the oil pump. Where is the oil pump located? Is it in the pan as I have heard it may be external.
