2006 Kia Sorento Q&A

2006 Kia Sorento Question: Oil pressure light goes on after about 10 minutes of driving.

Just had an oil change and problem occured shortly thereafter. Oil levels appear to be fine. 74k miles. Could it be anything els but to replace oil punp? Thanks -
Answer 1
did they use the correct oil? poss oil sending unit or wiring is shorting -
Answer 2
front main bearing clearance too much, rebuild lower end of engine or replace. going to a higher viscosity oil will not help once oil gits hot, at running temp, you will lose oil pressure, check for defective oil pressure sending unit first. -
Answer 3
Who did the oil change and what kind of filter was installed? No light before this service? Any noise from engine when the light is on? -

Thanks for the response. I took it over to Goodyear for service. Not sure what kind of filter they used. No light before service. There is a ticking sound after a while. The sad part is once I explain my problem no one wants to even take a look at it. I can't tell if this is a major problem or something reasonable. Hate to do it but might have to take it to the dearler for diagnosis. -

Dealer or good independent shop is your best bet, actual oil pressure can be taken with a test gauge. Good luck with it! -

advise them they can help you with your problem or you will seek help elsewhere, and if its do to there service you will seek the cost of the repair from them -
