Question: oil pressure light 3.5 Chrysler

Question

Visitor, 3.5L V6, Livonia, MI, March 06, 2011, 15:23

oil pressure light came on briefly, went out after car restarted. Light did not return. I will not drive the car until the pressure is tested with a gauge. It had a fresh oil change with a carquest filter. Could this be the problem? could the pressure switch be faulty or are we talking something more serious like a spun bearing?

Check the oil level first. Oil pressure spec is 5 psi at idle, 45 to 105 at 3000 rpm. May be a defective switch. Do you hear rod bearing noise on start up?
No harm to screw on OE Chrysler oil filter and verify o/pressure using quality oil pressure gauge, hopefully its only pressure switch but verify pressure/ hope something briefly stuck under the pressure relief valve.

the level is fine. the oil change was done at pennzoil so I am wondering if the filter could be an issue. engine makes no knocking sounds. should i have a direct reading done? Also the chime did not go off.
