Oil sprayed everywhere in the rear of the passenger side of the engine (near firewall). Smoke billowing through vents into truck. Oil pressure gauge goes nuts when in gear. checked dipstick, level is fine. Cannot find any leaks or holes. Any ideas?

Thanks,

John

Look to see if the oil pressure sender is back near the area of your oil leak. If so that could be the cause of your leak and the erratic gauge operation on your 1998 Ford F-150.

I have a 1997 Ford F150, had the same problem, the oil pressure sender, located next to the oil filter was getting plugged. Change the oil and filter and put in a new oil pressure sender. Because the sender is right next to the oil filter in the same housing it can get plugged easy. Change oil and filter every 3000 miles.
