my oil pressure gauge has been showing mid range at 40---it suddenly shows almost zero to 10---no engine noise or misses in running-is this a gauge problem?

    Hi,
When your dealing with an oil pressure light, it is a good idea to have the oil pressure checked. You can perform a visual check of the wiring to the oil pressure sender first, but if it is ok you should rule out a low oil pressure situation before moving on to a gauge problem.

It is very easy to diagnose this problem.
just remove the oil pressure switch and hook up a gauge. If the pressure is good,
then you know the engine has no problems, now check for a gauge or wiring or switch problem.
