Oil pressure dropped on 1992 Buick Park Avenue

My husband was driving and all of a sudden the oil pressure dropped to zero and then the car shut off. Could it be the oil pump?

Oil pumps don't usually work fine then drop to zero pressure, although it's possible. Whenever I'm addressing oil pressure issues, I check the oil level, then perform an oil pressure check to see if it's a pressure issue or an electrical issue.

what would the problem be ??? the pump (& or) electrical issue ? the oil level is reading normal. when the engine was running, the lifters were ticking.
