oil pan on 1993 Buick Roadmaster

My oil pan was damaged, and im being told that in order to replace it, the whole motor has to be hoisted out of the car...is this right?

The labor to replace the gasket itself isn't a huge dollar amount, so that leads me to believe the engine dosen't need to come out. If in doubt, get a second opinion form another shop.
